On the road again, had meetings in Tampa this time. Fortunately I have family in Tampa. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. FL gets a bad rap (a lot of it deserved) but I was shown another side. We went downtown to the river walk and hit 7th + Grove restaurant. It was a nice vibe, good price and great atmosphere.
This is pretty much what you’d expect from NH, a very homogeneous place, I was definitely a standout. I ate Ninetynine Grill, it is a chain but the food was good I was admittedly skeptical and also tired from travel so I took my food to go. Had coffee the next morning at Breakaway coffee in downtown Dover, heads turned obviously surprised to see me, it was uncomfortable at first but then people went on about their coffee drinking business. The coffee was good, the seating was cool, they had nice couches, overall it was a good experience.
Day two I stayed at a Holiday Inn in Portsmouth. I had a client meeting there. I still didn’t see many black people, but people were very nice. Portsmouth actually has a rich black history, there are a few monuments in downtown protraying this. I ate lunch at an old Air Force base turned golf course. Pease AFB the restaurant was called Grill 28. Again food was good.
I didn’t go anywhere at night but overall it was a good trip.
