In comparison to Istanbul Antalya was a blast. I only spent 3 days there before my next leg of my trip which was Istanbul. I stayed right by konyaalti beach. You could see it from me hotel room. It was a pebble beach which kind of sucked but the views made it worth it. The coastline was just so picturesque. I did notice some women staring whilst I was at the beach I was already irritable so I was like what the hell are you looking at I felt bad soon after. Her and her friend were talking about how beautiful we were and literally showered us with compliments. Men stated too but none made nasty comments, just the usual oh hello, wow omg, can i take you out for drink/dinner etc. The excursions were super cheap. You can do 5 different excursions for 200TL which is basically £20/$25/€21. Anybody that tries to charge you more, keep it moving.
A must :
Duden waterfalls
Old town/Marina
Ancient Roman sites
Boat tour (get to stop off at private beaches but there is w small fee like 50TL which is chicken change.
There are lots of really nice restaurants/shops down by the marina. Views amazing. There are little alleyways with cobble stones and little houses, lots of great photo ops. Also lots of bars and entertainment.
If there is one thing I have to say about Antalya the views are absolutely amazing. I do wish that I spent longer in Antalya than I did Istanbul. Overall would I recommend Antalya… No, I wouldn’t. It’s probably in my bottom 5 locations.
My trip to Antalya was not really what I was expecting even though we still had fun. I stayed at a 5* hotel in Side with my friend who is Turkish. During the trip I felt like anytime my friend and i approach someone they would serve and ask what she needs first before asking even tho I was the one approaching the person first, or tell me something is not available but later give it to her (also happened in the hotel) Also, as there are a lot of tourists people were staring at me a lot (not only kids, adults also and both locals and tourists) and even ask to take pictures with me which I refused. My friend had to ask why people were behaving like this as she was also surprised and the answer was that there is not a lot of black people in Antalya but mostly in Bodrum. A part from that I had a great time at the beach, safaris waterfalls, the green lake looks amazing. Due to the discomfort during the trip, I will not go back.
