Buffalo, NY was truly an unexpected treasure. My husband and I traveled with our 17- year old daughter for our anniversary.
Our original intent was to simply stay in a Buffalo hotel and travel into Canada for Niagara Falls. However, we quickly found lots to do within the city. Although Buffalo is an older city with lots of well worn neighborhoods, we found the downtown district to be full of charming eateries and interesting museums. We even enjoyed a five star meal at the Buffalo Chophouse. Aside from the food and museums, there was the obvious enjoyment of the Falls located on the American side. There are boat rides, beautiful hiking trails along the river, and an amazing nightly fireworks show. Our favorite was the nightly color Illumination of the falls that really brings the experience up a notch. Plus, it’s super convenient to cross the border into Canada and enjoy Ontario or Toronto, all within less than 2 hours!
