Traveling to Locust, North Carolina provided no options for a hotel (there are no hotels or AIRBNBs in Locust).
We explored options in Albemarle, however, the reviews were ugly. We opted for a pet-friendly AIRBNB in nearby Concord, NC.
We were pleased to learn our AIRBNB host is a POC. We were equally pleased when we realized the neighborhood was diverse.
The home was small, tasteful, and well-stocked. It was PERFECT and far nicer than a cramped hotel room.
The reviews for our Host were bothersome. The non-melanated guests were unhappy with the neighborhood. One stated he would return, but without his kids. Many said the neighborhood was bad.
It’s a neighborhood comprised of hard-working people, Black, white, and Hispanic. The young Black men next door were outside, enjoying the weather, listening to music and drinking. Likely unwinding after working all day. They were simply living their lives. We saw none of the other neighbors.
My family-my adult son, my adult daughter, my 18 month old granddaughter, and my two Doodles-stayed there and felt extremely safe. The Host also has several cameras on the exterior of the home.
Next time we travel to NC, we are def booking with Claudia.
Im attaching a screenshot of her AIRBNB page-she has one in Concord, NC and one in Kannapolis, NC, and 2 images of the home we stayed in.
I use the AIRBNB app, so I don’t have a link but searching for homes in Concord, NC will produce her home in the results.
