The diverse staff are welcoming, friendly, and professional. This is also a pet-friendly hotel; my two Doodles travel everywhere with me.
There is lots to do in the area, and relatively close (one hour) to DC.
We explored historical sites but were disappointed at the perception provided, esp at Chatham. It was more white-washed history minimizing the atrocities while celebrating colonizers. They even have their images displayed.
The NEGROES FOR SALE bulletin left my daughter in tears.
Finally, I don’t recommend the dog park! There are signs up everywhere stating it is only for residents. I thought that was weird. Welcoming visitors and travelers stimulates local economy, but they don’t embrace this philosophy. 🤷🏻♀️
I’d like to return, stay at the Best Western again, and stay longer so we can find historical sites that celebrate POC.
