EL Calafate should be on your travel list. I would recommend adding it to a visit with Santiago, Chile. If you have more time in Patagonia add Ushuaia. El Calafate reminded me of a quaint ski town. The city has cute restaurants and shops. Lodging is cheap $30 a night for most air bnbs and 150 for hotels (during off-season) I visited in August. You want to take two tours while in town Perito Moreno Glacier and El Chalten. I would recommend renting a car to drive around in town. It is not necessary. Uber is not available here but you can catch taxis in the center of town. English is not widely spoken and you need to bring Argentinian pesos or American money!!! ATMs and card machines work sparingly. The town sits right on Lake Argentina with the mountains as a backdrop. I recommend this to couples, solo travelers or families. It’s definitely worth it and is off the beaten path.
