This is review 1 of 23 in a group of writings I call, “A quick deep look at local Cali
stopping grounds”. Galt Ca is a small
Cali town. Its claim to fame is The Galt Flea market which happens twice a week
and produces a very diverse crowd from the surrounding areas. If any of our
people desire to visit Galt I would suggest to go during the Flea Market (website
link here: https://www.cityofgalt.org/our-city/galt-market/shopping-info) . That way
the multi ethnic crowd might result in a better overall black experience. There is
also a Strawberry Festival in mid May, but from my time growing up in Galt and
attending these festivities the Flea Market usually has a more diverse crowd and
overall more comfortable feel. Admission to the Flea Market is free and usually
one can find good deals of a gamut of items. The Strawberry Festival does have
and admission cost and things inside the festival are usually higher price. In
terms of the Black Experience in Galt, I would say that it is generally safe
however I would still urge visitors to come during the Flea Market which happens
mid-week. In addition I would not advise visitors to joy ride in the area and go off
the beaten path as there are many tiny towns around Galt, further from the
freeway- that might not be so Black friendly : ie- Wilton Ca (please see my review
on Wilton Ca). In conclusion, Galt is relatively safe for our people, however I
would still urge others to visit during the Galt Flea market (which is mid week
from 8am-2pm), not joy ride in the area, and stick close to the highway (highway
99 in this case) in general.
