Went in the off season (late March early, April). The weather was lovely. Reasonably priced, not overly crowded. Nothing stays open super late but that’s about what I expected. The food was good. We had a hotel with beach access and we were close to the Wright Bros Memorial–which if you’re into parks and history is pretty cool. Also went to the aquarium at Roanoke Island (about 20 mins away) which was small but fun. Didn’t have any safety concerns or issues.

Traveling While Black
Kill Devil Hills area was overall average. There were plenty of activities and shops to choose from. People were friendly. I saw a small demonstration on the street which was confusing.

Traveling While Black
My experience was very pleasant. Even with majority white people.
Theirs lots of options for things to do like mini golfing, bumper cars. Or you can visit the Wright brothers national memorial. We stayed in an Airbnb which was owned by a black family.
