Ko Adang is located in the Andaman sea next to Koh Lipe. It is the second biggest island within Tarutao National Marine Park. However, there is only 1 resort there and bungalows at the national park next door. To get there, you will need to get on a long tail boat from Koh Lipe which takes about 10 min or so. We spent 5 days of pure relaxation there. However, if you’re looking for nightlife and a faster pace, this may not be for you. Unlike koh Lipe where the beaches are saturated with long tail boats, and few stray dogs running around the beaches, you will be on an actual private beach. They also have a great pool which is non existent at most of the hotels in Koh Lipe. At Adang resort, they provide free shuttle long tail boats to and from Koh Lipe throughout the day so we enjoyed going there to grab some food since there are so many restaurants (Adang just has the one at the resort). We also had at our disposal free snorkeling gears, kayaks, beach towels whereas on Koh Lipe, when we researched, we would have had to rent those which would have made our stay more expensive. With the kayak, we were able to go to the national park next door and enjoyed a beautiful hike up the mountain which offers a breathtaking view of Koh Lipe.
The staff was great and although they speak limited English, we had no issues communicating. You can order and eat your food by the pool, lounge chairs or at the restaurant itself. The only complaint I have is the lack of diversity at breakfast. When you spend 5 days there it gets boring real fast since there are just 4 choices: chicken fried rice, chicken salad, Thai eggs Benedict and English breakfast. They do serve a plate of fresh cut up fruits and toast with butter and free milk and cereal.
For black travelers, there is no issue. They are genuinely nice and I cant wait to go back.
    How to get there:
We took a flight from Bangkok to Hat Yai and from there, we were picked up by a mini van which took us to the ferryboat (about 1h40 min drive) and the high speed boat took us to Koh Lipe in 1h15min and from Koh Lipe, the resort picked us up in a long tail boat. The process was seamless. We booked it online while we were already in Thailand using 12Go Asia. Traveling in Thailand has been a wonderful experience. Flights and buses were always on time and the efficiency at the airports was amazing. I never once felt unsafe and in my opinion this is one of the nicest and respectful people I’ve encountered.
    Some helpful tips:
Bring mosquito repellent, sunscreen, a good book (the internet connection is not great there)
No need to pack unnecessary beach towels. They’re provided at the resort
Prepare to feel somewhat disconnected since internet connection is very slow
Perfect resort for families. Very child friendly with a nice pool.
