Long Beach was Long Beaching….. For my culture-nothing to really do? I just turned 50 young and LBC just didn’t wow me! If I was offered a free trip and the stipulation was I had to do everything in LBC. I would hard pass!

If there’s any place that reminds me of South Florida around South Beach this would be it the streets are kind of similar to Ocean drive type Vibes like Collins avenue and maybe lower Washington avenue you go around here there’s all kinds of beach action and at least in the area where I went that is near the coast and beachy area it seems to be relatively safe on like a lot of the early 90s rap videos proclaimed it to be it seem to be decent and higher in where yuppies and professional people hung out they are various restaurants and bars in this area it seem to be very safe during the day although taking the train through Compton was a slightly sketchy

I travel with my two beagles and my partner. During our stay here in SoCal we decided to try Monty’s Dog Beach and Bar and Rosie’s Dog Beach. The drinks were good, doggie ice cream was practically inhaled and the pups enjoyed a good run down the beach between the two life guard stations that mark off Rosie’s.

Long Beach, CA is one of my favorite underrated cities. Blacks are more than welcomed. It’s so diverse. You can hit 2nd street to eat or party all day and night. You can hit downtown to shop and enjoy some tourist attractions. You can go to the marina to rent a boat or dine on the water.
There is always something going on. Try going during Grand Prix and it will be a blast! Long Beach is a city where you can easily live like a local and a tourist. It’s so much history and culture there you will never get board. You will feel love and freedom from almost everyone. It’s a perfect 20-30 minutes drive to LA and Orange County. It’s really one of those cities where you can have it all and feel safe and accepted as a black person. You can find everything here:
Family activities
Nightlife
Shopping and good local shopping
Healthy living
Adventure like water sports
Not far from hiking in mountains
Beach time
Relaxation
Events
EVERYTHING!
Skip LA and head to Long Beach! I Can write a whole travel guide on Long Beach.

East Rock Coffee is a great new coffee shop in Island Park that serves great drinks, a full alcohol license as well food and beverages. They are also less than 15 minutes away from Long Beach. Definitely stop by , the baristas are amazing as well , black owned business and very nice
