    Traveling While Black

Of all my travels, Switzerland is one of the most beautiful countries that I’ve visited. My visits there are always for rest, relaxation and romance. I frequent Lucerne Switzerland particularly because of two properties that has swept my breath away.

I’ve stayed at both Villa Honegg the newer Buergenstock Resort quite a few times because of their infamous heated infinity pools. Villa Honegg averages about $600/night while Buergenstock Resort is almost twice the cost of Villa Honegg. Frankly, it’s quite impossible to compare both properties as they are both breathtaking in their own unique way.

Villa Honegg is a much smaller property which makes it intimate and personable. Honegg is also unique in being able have easy access to the breathtaking mountains of Switzerland and the view of Lake Lucerne. I did take notice of more solo travelers at Villa Honegg vs. The Buergenstock Resort. On my drive to Honegg, I bumped into Buergenstock as that property was under construction back then. I started regretting the fact that I had reservations at Honegg vs. The Buergenstock. Upon arrival, Honegg swept my breath away and I had forgotten all about Buergenstock until my drive back.

I later decided to visit Buergenstock and did they deliver! For that stay, I decided to take the train to Switzerland. I then took their shuttle boat followed by their funicular railway which provided a scenic view of Lake Lucerne and it’s country side. Upon arrival I had a deep sense of satisfaction. Upon getting to my room I was in awe at the panoramic bay windows in the room and bathroom over looking all that is the beauty of Switzerland. The Fireplace separating the bathtub from the sitting area was also a excellent romantic touch. I couldn’t decide if I wanted to leave my room, visit their infamous heated infinity pool, their movie theatre or their skating rink. Since that trip was only a few days I had to make a second trip. Whoever you take to Buergenstock, be prepared to fall in love with that person.

As far as traveling while black, I was the only black at both properties during my visits but I did take notice of a black bartender at The Buergenstock resort.

    Traveling While Black

I was in Switzerland for 2 nights. Went to this small town called Lucern. I had never heard of it until I saw a video on Facebook showing the lake. I went paragliding over lake lucern. It was truly the best thing I have ever done. I used a company called sky glide. They came and picked me up from the train station because I was travelling from France. After the paragliding they dropped me off at my hotel at no extra charge. For the paragliding I paid 170chf and 34chf for the photos.

We stayed at a hotel called Romantik Wilden Mann. It was nice, super clean and spacious. The town is small so everything is within walking distance. The hotel is located 9min from main train station. Travelling from France we had to change trains in Zurich and get a local train.

Boujee on a budget!! If you are like me and love fancy things but u are on a budget u should definitely visit Bürgenstock resort and spa. Instead of staying at the 5 star hotel which costs up to $600 a night, I recommend purchasing a day pass at the Alpine spa. For 200CHF you get day pass for the whole day plus 100chf voucher to use for any treatment you want. They have a range of massages or products to purchase. They have an infinity pool overlooking the beautiful lake. The day pass also included transfers from the main town to the resort which is a 30min boat ride plus a ride up the mountain where it’s located. Every corner is surrounded by the beautiful mountains which are breathtaking.

As for travelling while black I never experienced anything out of the ordinary. I didn’t see many black people in my two day stay. I did however meet a Kenyan lady who works at the resort and other fellow black travellers from the States.
