Visited with my 80 year old mother in July 2025. The site is located on the central California coast and is an easy 4 hr drive from the Bay Area. An interesting and beautiful location. Its at the top of a big hill and the only way up is on one of the park’s buses (included in the entry price). The bus takes a narrow, twisty road to the top so beware if that makes you nervous. Tickets are $35 for adults and you can buy them online through the California State Parks site. We took the limited mobility tour for my mom and we had a good experience. Didn’t see a lot.of Black folks but there were people from all over CA and the world. We stayed in San Luis Obispo which is about 40 miles away because there were more hotel and restaurant options. This is a nice weekend getaway that I recommend.
