I have a huge extended family through marriage and spent my summers here as a black kid. Ppl aren’t inherently nasty but the were definitely raised by racists. I never felt unsafe just like a spectacle because of all of the stares. Since I was in my teens, and we were in the country, we weren’t allowed off of the property after dark anyhow. I can easily see how someone would feel uncomfortable here though. Not a vacation spot but to pee and get a drink on your way to another destination should be fine.
My girlfriend and I drove through here while taking a road trip to Toronto. We were scared to stop the car. No incidents but definitely gave a sundown town vibe.
