I'd probably have to say my FAVORITE travel experience to date, was going to the ELEPHANT JUNGLE SANCTUARY in Phuket, Thailand!! I was so happy, I could have cried. What a magnificent and divine experience it was to be up close and personal with those gentle giants!
I beg you , if you travel to Thailand, PLEASE don't go to those places where you ride the elephants! Trust me, before I was educated about it, I wanted to do the same. When I first red about the Elephant Sanctuary, and that I wouldn't get to ride the elephants and take one of those cool IG photos , I was unsure. Once I understood that it's shortens their life span and alters their health when people ride them, I understood. So I booked the excursion. OMG WAAAAY better than riding them.
At the sanctuary, you get to be one with the elephants! They roam free ( the way it's meant to be). You feed them, bathe them, swim with them! I have the most amazing photos with them, people say it almost looks fake!
If you go to Phuket, you MUST GO TO THE ELEPHANT JUNGLE SANCTUARY!A once in a lifetime experience!

This was our first time to Indonesia, but 2nd time to South East Asia. We went to Thailand 2 years prior.
We saw more Black people in Bali, probably than we saw in Thailand. However, we noticed that when we spotted other black couples in Bali, they were reluctant to speak or even make eye contact. I hate to say this, but it seemed to reek of a competitive nature, or like they wanted to be the only black people in Bali. I noticed however, a totally different vibe from single black women. They'd smile and say "hello".
I'm writing this because it makes my heart leap to see my beautiful black people traveling, and seeing new places. Let's always remember that we need each other, and no one understands us like US. So it takes NOTHING from any of us when we give a quick smile or hello that says " I SEE YOU BROTHA/SISTAH"!
My Husband and I spent our honeymoon in Bali, but am so grateful we made 3 days to spend in Lombok! The most relaxing and beautiful experience there! If you are traveling to Lombok, you MUST stay at The Katamaran! I stayed in the Premiere Club (King) room. The room is SPOTLESS and the view is AMAZING. It's panoramic glass, sitting right on the beach, with a view of the ocean. It was probably the best sleep I got! The sound of the ocean waves crashing into the beach was so tranquil.
My favorite food there is there casual dining restaurant. Surprisingly they have delicious nachos! The pool was also amazing. I really love this place. It's also a great place to stay to be fairly close to the Gili Islands. Our tour guide took us on a short boat ride to Gili Air & Gili T. We also went snorkeling. It was beautiful!
Bali, of course is beautiful, but also much more populated with tourists. Lombok is a beautiful, quiet, memorable get away!
