TWB: there are so many tourists there that it can get slightly overwhelming if you’re someone with sensory overload (I’m not). Once you get past that, understand that the world’s view of us is slightly skewed, so expect some racism. I went to the Gucci store, which is 3 stories. The bottom floor is an open concept with quick things to grab, such as perfumes, wallets, card holders, etc. The second floor has sneakers and more off-the-rack items, and the third floor has a privatized stylist vibe. Despite having a security member who appeared to be African, another Italian employee followed me to each floor precisely. I got tf out of there so fast. I was pissed! In frustration, I went to the Dior store. After waiting in line cause they had occupancy issues, I was invited in. Once inside, a concierge attended to me by trying to order me some things off of an iPad. The problem is everyone else who came in got sat down, offered a drink, and specialized treatment. So, pre-crash out, a man working the perfume counter came over, took the woman's iPad, and gave me a personalized experience. I ended up being the only person in the store who purchased something (sneakers), but I made sure to be as inconvenient as possible. Outside of that, the restaurants are friendly; there is a unique part of Venice where holocaust victims were housed as the Third Reich was crumbling. They have since replaced the prisons with storefronts, but they haven’t painted over where the cells were. I think that’s important, and I’m by no means a Jew sympathizer or dislike them. I find it fascinating that Europe has never distanced itself from its atrocities the way America continues to attempt to.
