Tallinn, Estonia is a medieval city that will surprise you! There are castles in the middle of the city, cobble stone streets, and delicious traditional dishes. I spent 2 days there and cannot recommend this hidden gem enough! Since this country is less touristy than Western European countries, locals may be intrigued by Black travelers. I found that locals were excited to see new faces but weren't in your face asking for pictures or anything like that. I didn't experience any form of subtle or blatant racism. All are welcome in Estonia! Things to do: -Explore the medieval town walls surrounding Old Town -Snap panoramic photos from Toompea Hill. -Visit the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral -Climb up St. Olaf’s Church, which is the city’s largest medieval building -Walk around Town Hall Square -Eat at an authentic medieval tavern called Draakon!
Slovenia is an underrated country! It's one of the greenest countries in Europe. If you are into beautiful landscapes, castles, caves, and good food, Slovenia is for you! Certain Eastern/Central European countries have a bad reputation for racism, but I wouldn't include Slovenia on that list. I found people to be respectful and friendly. As long as you are respectful to Slovenia's natural environment, you won't have any issues. Things to do: -Rent a boat or a kayak to visit Bled Island -Hike around Lake Bled -Try Bled Cream Cake -Visit Bled Castle -Take a stroll around Ljubljana, the capitol city. -Visit Ljubljana Castle for a great view of the city -Walk around Prešeren Square to see colorful buildings and live entertainment
Copenhagen is a free-spirited city that is perfect for solo travelers like me! I visited for 3 days and did not want to leave. I stayed in an Airbnb next to Frederiksberg park. The locals are friendly, environmentally conscious, and most people ride bikes. Things to know: -There is no uber or lyft in Denmark! It's best to use public transport or rent a bike -The currency is Danish Krone not Euros! -The Little Mermaid structure is extremely popular. Visit early in the morning to avoid crowds -The Glyptotek museum is free on Tuesdays Things to do: -Go to Freetour.com and book a free walking tour! I booked the Christianshavn Walking Tour and it was great -Walk around Nyhvan to see colorful buildings and eat Danish food -Visit the Royal Palace of Amalienborg -Tivoli Gardens is a good option if you are traveling with kids -Book the Copenhagen Bus and Boat Hop-On, Hop-Off 48-Hour Pass! The canal tour is very peaceful and a great way to see the whole city -Climb the Church of Our Saviour to see the best view of the city!
