I loved Montreal, even in the snow. I wouldn't recommend going during the winter. Ubers are expensive, you can get snowed in. While it's nice, it's not really a great time to venture around. Unless it's your thing.
I would book a VRBO or Airbnb, The host usually has excellent recommendations
Biodôme is a MUST see. As well as Chinatown
They have an underground city. Can be tricky to find but worth it. Everyone is helpful.
Taking the metro is cheaper and quicker than an uber, there are stations everywhere.
Local grocery store Maxi has everything.
the food..you can find anything your heart desires. It's all really good. Yes try the poutine, and if you come across maple candied salmon pick it up. Soo good.
Being black in Montreal. It's a place we all need to visit. The city is beautiful and diverse. I was unaware of my race being an issue. At first yes, we always wonder, but it quickly vanished as I began to venture out. Yes people stare but it isn't THAT type of stare. You will be noticed as an American, some will speak to you about politics, some will practice English with you, and others just say good and keep it pushin.
Most people speak English but it is helpful to know some key phrases; where is the bathroom, How do I get to the metro, and so on. The city is easy to navigate, you just have to pay attention. Especially on the metro. I plan to spend a month in Montreal soon! Will update
