A Little About Me:

What’s good cousins? I have joined this community to be an asset and learn better ways to travel. I am going to be blunt and honest. I am blessed to have traveled for pleasure more than work and I would love to share my experiences. I’m a van lifer as I bought a RV and drove from NC to NV to start culinary school. I also have taken train, plane, and automobile and touched Africa, the Caribbean’s, and as far as Hawaii on the west coast but I still have so much to see. I hope you join me on my journeys so we can make black travel better. I am a US veteran but a native of Liberia. I do solo, group, food, exploration, historical and luxury travel. Currently at Mardi Gras looking to bring back some details to the people. I currently reside in Las Vegas. I am an Executive Chef, Bartender, & Vacay Homeowner specializing in Affordable Travel, Las Vegas Free Virtual Tours and Short Term Stay. Wait why am I the first one doing a Cabo Review. Cousins this is another hidden gem. The nightlife comes to life like you wouldn’t believe. Definitely get a resort and do the resort stuff during the day. But no later than 7p head out to the local city and get you a table at one of the roof top restaurants. Bring your smoke and coffee. Try fresh pastries as it’s tradition for them to have a Pastry for Breakfast. Mid Day Snack. Lunch another pastry and Dinner. Gay and Solo Travel friendly. The Ubers are great and they give a fair price. Spanish families socialize and eat dinner together. Then the kids go home and the adults play until early in the morning. Or take an excursion. I rode a camel and learned how to make chocolate. Both amazing experiences. Enjoy street food but be super careful I caught ecoli but I was doing way too much from kissing birds to eating street food on a food tour. It’s reasonable to live here as well. Rent maybe $800 for a nice 2bdrm condo. A lot of fresh local food and they love Mole as a premier Mexican dish. Must try. And a Smokey orange drink made locally Mezcal. Don’t sleep on the freshly rolled cigars or buying you a Cuban.

Uber Driver Travel Warning Whatever you do make sure you have setup hotel, private driver, or taxi transportation in Punta Cana. The Uber Drivers reroute your contact information to subcontractors and they text or call you and ask for more money than is quarter on the app. If you do not pay they will cancel your trip and leave you stranded. They may also pick you up and then charge you more than quoted over the phone and force you to pay before exiting car which may lead to volatile situations. If you have any issues report to the American Embassy there via phone or online website. Here’s my actual account of a scenario https://youtu.be/fTk6f16OG2g?si=XWr4cbYz81ig25B4 you can follow for more travel tips. Currently Uber has suspended some driver accounts and they are aware of this bad behavior. Be very careful with transportation in Punta Cana.

Want a Beignet? Go to the French Quarter. This establishment is one of the oldest in the city and this is the original location open 24/7. You do curbside order, Takeout or Dine-In but you cannot get it delivered. It was Mardi Gras and packed to the brim the service via Takeout is very efficient. I started like 25 in line and within 10 minutes I had my order and was out the door. Walking to location is better than trying to park. The Beignet’s came 3/$5. They were nice and hot. Fresh pastry with powered sugar. They are square French style doughnuts. It’s a taste between an elephant ear and croissant. The coffee started at @ $3 6oz cup. It’s supposed to be good but I didn’t try it. They have other items but I wanted to get the signature beignets they have perfected since the 1800s. I was not disappointed and will be back. Customer service was abrupt and nonchalant but not rude. Very mixed crowd. Tables were filled and everyone was in good spirits. Only closed on Christmas.
