A Little About Me:
Creative type. Fashion, Travel and Lifestyle.
I had the best 48 hours in Rome. Through my work travel club, I bagged an offer for two to Rome, including flights, hotel, airport pick up and drop off and tour around the city for £199 pp, Friday to Sunday evening. We stayed at a lovely 4 star Principessa Isabella Hotel with breakfast included. The hotel staff were lovely. We asked the hotel concierge who seemed quite young, where to have dinner, he told us about a restaurant nearby where him and his friends frequent and would be going later. So we went, the food was lovely, later on him and his friend joined us, we had a lovely conversation over drinks. They shared their favourite spots we could visit and other touristic places. Our first night was so surreal, two young women from London in Rome, dining with two strangers and having a good time, stories and laughter. This themed of being carefree and open to experiences run through our entire time there, we didn't think hard about it. The next day while looking for a place to eat we met a group of friends Italians in front of a restaurant. One was due to visit London soon so we stuck a deal that if they showed us around their city we will do the same for them. We left and went of to our Rome by night tour to the Colosseum, Capitoline Hill, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon and Piazza Navona and others. When we returned we met up with the guys we had seen earlier, a few more of their friends who had lived in London joined, so we had a little bit of familiarity, which was lovely. We went together with them to a bar/club in an area called the Peak, we had so much fun there. I don't think it’s an area tourists will necessarily know. There was a line-up of bars/club playing different genre of music the scene there was very different compared to London, I would describe it as laid back but yet fun. I think when you are not travelling solo you can afford to do such things, while of course being cautious. In retrospective it was a risky adventure even though at the time we felt safe and got a positive vibe about the whole the thing. We kept in touch we a couple of the guys and still friendly now. On our last day the same driver dropped us to the airport. It was very short but lovely trips. Rome at night is so beautiful. Highly recommend it , at least a short stay like ours.
My travel to Bali, has been one of my favourites in recent times. I loved the food. We just ate and ate till I could no longer stand the aromas, I took a break from the local food for a day and a half and had continental food. I especially love seafood, and there we had amazing seafood dishes. We spent half of the time in Legian near the coast to enjoy some water activities. We hired a driver we took us around all the tourist points we wanted to visit, and when we wanted food he took us to really good local restaurants. I food out later on that these drivers have connections with the restaurateurs and will get a commission when they bring people over. I think great, if they recommend great places for you, you can't be mad at that. All the places we went had great food. On our way to Tanah Lot, we stopped by Sari Amerta Agrotourism to try Luwak coffee and also tasted some amazing herbals teas. We bought a few of the teas too. At Tanah Lot, walking to see the sunset our driver recommend some snack to try, and then dinner later at Jimbaran Seafood. I would highly recommend Jimbaran to you. In a line-up of beach cafes on Muaya beach, our driver recommended one to go to. Shrimps, clams, lobsters, and squid, fishes, I was in food heaven. We had planned to get a different drive to Ubud but he was so great that we asked him to drive us to Ubud. We did some sightseeing on route to Ubud, we went to UC GOLD silver, also Tegenungan waterfall in Kemenuh. In Kememuh we had a lovely meal in a local restaurant. Since we didn't have to research any restaurant at all, it wasn’t easy remembering the names; we took business cards but lost them at some point either on the trip or after. All this to say that the Balinese cuisine is amazing, from the nasi campur to satays and crispy duck. I am sure even without a guide telling you which ones to go to, you will find amazing food. Lastly the villas we stayed also provided amazing breakfast option. Variety of exotic fruits, eggs just how you want it and fresh juices. I cannot wait to go back.
I travelled to Barcelona at the end of July 2018 with a group of girls to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were there for 5 days, which I think, was the perfect number of days for such girls trip. Enough time to have day(s) for yourself to do activities you personally like or just relax and do nothing and also have time to do things with the groups. Since we went for a party we were not back-to-back on executions but still managed to fit a couple/few in/. I went to Sagrada Familia which was 5 minutes walk from my Airbnb, Placa de Catalunya and La Barceloneta. One of my favourite things I did there was spending time at the beach, sleeping in the sun on Barcelona beach. Another activity I really wanted to do but was able to do due to time was to take a yacht tour at Port Olympia. If you are interested in doing this I would recommend you plan and book before time. They mainly do private tours, which of course is pricy especially when you do have the big group to share the cost. They have shared group experience where you pay per person (much affordable) but they only do that one or twice a week so you will have check before hand. We also took a trip along the coast to a water park called Illa Fantasia, with a big group of people, all black people, from a number of countries, America, UK, the Netherlands and others. I believe this was organised by a couple of guys from UK and US. One of our friends told us about it and got us involved. The same group organised an all white boat party and a pyjama party, which fell through, i believe due to taxi and uber strikes that were going on at the time of our visit. If this is your scene I would recommend you Google party package to find more information. Generally, I found Barcelona a lovely city with tons of things to do, I turn to love relaxation trips, with eating and a little bit of sightseeing and adventure. With this trip I had the relaxation, sightseeing top two and then food I will grade last.
