I traveled with a group of 12 other women to Phuket and Bangkok, Thailand in September 2018 and it was amazing. We booked with an agent through Beach Bum Vacations. It was a fairly inexpensive trip, great weather, good food, and plenty to do. We stayed at the Burasari Resort Hotel for 5 nights in Phuket and the Mode Sathorn Hotel in Bangkok for 2 nights. Both hotel accommodations were comfortable and in great walking distance to local shops, malls, and eateries. In Phuket, we visited the Elephant Sanctuary and Tiger Kingdom. In Bangkok, we visited the Grand Palace and Floating Market. As for traveling while black, many residents would take pictures of us or record us on their phone. One of our tour guides informed us that they were not used to seeing us over there, especially in groups, but it was still slightly uncomfortable. We only had one person actually ASK if she could take a picture with us. Everything (food, excursions, gifts) was fairly cheap ($1-$3 for gifts, less than $10 for meals). The most expensive part of the trip was the flight. We traveled from NC to LA to Hong Kong to Phuket and on the way back we traveled through Tokyo instead of Hong Kong. The flight was approximately 14 hours total. To get from Phuket to Bangkok, we booked through Air Asia and paid $30 US dollars. I cannot remember how much that is in Thai Bahts. Overall, I enjoyed all parts of my trip. The only thing that would keep me from going back is the long flight.
