    Traveling While Black
    Edit

In my honest opinion I do not feel like the Maldives is a destination for “black” people. Me and my girlfriend stayed at Summer island and spent extra to stay in the water bungalows. We were the only blacks people on the island and airport which isn’t anything new to me since I travel around the world. Not only did the staff seem shocked to see us but even the the other guest seemed shocked everyone starred at us like some kind of side show. I spent six days and five nights on the island and by day four I was ready to go. None of the other guest would speak to us when we greeted them and the waiters would not come to offer us service we would have to go and ask for it ourselves but they would go to the other guests of non color. The island is also very expensive we spent the extra 60usd per person a day for the all enclusive but still somehow managed to rack up 1,500 in extras?? All of the water sports are scheduled in the morning time and you have to sign up for them the day before so if you miss the sign up or it’s full before you get there you have nothing to do on the island for the rest of the day but the beach and restaurant. They only have a Dj on fridays and Saturday’s so the rest of the week you have no entertainment cabin fever is real. Maldives is a beautiful place but I think I will find other islands to venture to in the future.

Amsterdam is an amazing and beautiful city it’s simple and exotic in its own unique way. With that being said I defiantly chose the wrong month to go I went in December and it was freezing cold. I stayed at the Amstel hotel. Most of the attractions are in walking distance and same area but because of the cold I used Uber to get around which added up very quickly. My hotel was very nice I splurged to get the largest room available about 190 a night but even by American standards it was still small to me if you have traveled abroad to Europen countries then you understand that hotel room size is not the same Amsterdam is no different. The red light district and Henekian Museum is a must see.

I currently live and work In Riyadh Saudia Arabia. So I travel to Bahrain often to get away from the restrictions that come with living in Bahrain. I’ve recently stopped going to Bahrain because of the curfew that has been imposed on Americans and government workers. We can’t partake In the nightlife anymore. Tips for travel I would check out the “Historic fort” it’s a fun interesting trip right next to the beach and there is also a museum close by. I usually stay at either of the Wyndham hotels there they both offer great customer service and of you ask for an upgrade while you’re there in person they always hook me up with a good deal

I currently live and work In Riyadh Saudia Arabia. I have to travel to Abu Dhabi and Dubai often for work. I have also traveled to many other countries. But let me tell you about Dubai. Dubai has broken the code on customer service and tourism. It’s my favorite city by far and I feel if every city followed what Dubai is doing the world would be a better place. If you want to splurge and feel like a celebrity for a day you can if you want to save and cite see eat good cheap food you can. Dubai has it all. Everywhere you go and eat you get the best customer service and respect. Living in the midwest as a black person you aren’t always received well but in Dubai that doesn’t matter you’re there guest and you’re treated as such.
