I visited the island as a port on a Carniva cruise in April 2016. We docked in Grand Turk. The island is stunning with crystal clear water. I’m not a swimmer and still had a lot of fun just wading in the water. Since i’m not a strong swimmer I did a submarine ride to see their coral and it was a great alternative. A bit pricey but worth it. I found the locals to be very friendly, a bit too friendly as I was wandering solo while my boyfriend slept on the beach so be cautious but don’t let it get in the way of a gorgeous island.
Rio is without a doubt one of my favorite cities. I visited in September 2016 and the weather was hot, but nice and cool at night.
I stayed within walking distance of Impanema Beach, close to a lot of great shops.
For night life I visited both Leblon and Lappa and had much more fun in Lappa. Keep in mind a lot of bars keep your ID, and if you loose your drink card there’s a larger fee to pay.
Tourists attractions like Christ the Reedeemer, Sugar Loaf and the mosaic stairs are must sees.
Be smart and keep to populated, well lit areas and you’ll be safe from any crime.
Make sure you try a caipirinha and brazilian barbeque at least once!
I spent a day at El Yunque national park on a guided tour. It was well worth it. Climbing the ruins, and rainforest as far as the eye can see. There are many beautiful waterfalls throughout the park and it’s a gorgeous way to see some breathtaking nature!
Accra is a wonderful city full of extremely friendly people! You’ll see the streets lined with food vendors.. don’t be shy! Try jollof rice, plantain chips, fufu and stew. You won’t be disappointed
