If you’re planning on taking a trip to Italy, Florence should be at the top of your list of places to see. You will be stunned by the picturesque views, architecture and landmarks. The shopping is to die for and the food will not disappoint you. A quick tip from us. Flights are not too bad over the Easter weekend. So if you’re travelling from Europe a stop in Florence won’t break the bank whilst the weather is still good. If you are staying in other cities in Italy it’s quite easy to travel to Florence either by train or bus which allow you to go for a quick day trip. Do note however as a black woman you may get a lot of unwanted attention from the men in the market. All pretty harmless but something to just be wary of as you hear the likes of “brown sugar” and people commenting on your beautiful complexion. If you find yourself in the San Lorenzo's market looking for some good deals, remeber to never accept the first offer given. You can definitely negotiate prices and find yourself a good bargain. We would definitely recommend seeing the famous Ponte Vecchio, Duomo Santa Maria del Fiore and Piazzale Michelangelo. Barcelona is a must and one of our absolute faves! The city is so vibrant, unique and just a vibe! The people are so cool and you will definitely meet some interesting characters. We stayed in an Airbnb in Gràcia neighbourhood with this really cool Spanish couple. We spent around 40-50 euros per night and this location was great as it was well situated with good travel links. Barcelona offer a range of great activities with something for everyone. You can go with your family, friends or even that special someone and have the time of your life. You may not know this but Barcelona has a really good night life if that is something you’re in to but be warned on a Friday night you may have to wait a little while before getting a taxi home. We’d definitely recommend seeing the Sagrada Familia, Magic Fountain, Parc Guell and getting some shopping done whilst there. For black people we would say Barcelona is fine because it’s typically full of young tourist, but there may be the odd chance of you coming across some ‘funny’ people as with everywhere. The city where dreams are made of. We all know that New York is one of the biggest cities in the world, and we thought we knew what to expect but the reality was quite different. The city is composed of hundreds of big tall buildings that would make anyone feel like a small fish in a big pond As many say New York is the city that never sleeps and boy were they not wrong! Whilst there we literally found ourselves in the midsts of a street party in Central Park. It was so random and everyone was looking like they were having the best time, so in true New York fashion we just joined in. Just a tip from us, don’t be afraid of the unexpected, it could make for a great story one day. If you have ever been to the Big Apple you’ll know that walking through the crowds is like an extreme sport, but don’t despair the city offers plenty of places to get away from the craziness. New York is very multicultural so you will typically find yourself amongst many different people of varying ethnicities. We would recommend searching for hotels in New York as opposed to staying in an Airbnb as sometimes the pictures don’t marry up to the reality. That’s just our take on NYC.
