It was my first time in Aberdeen & I was worried I was going to stand out like a sore thumb but I was wrong! It’s quite diverse, I sat next to a fellow Black traveler on the flight in, there were local friendly faces when I took the ScotRail which was a comfort & a really lovely staff at the hotel. Everyone was so kind & I didn’t once feel like I was being treated differently or being judged by the color of my skin. I stayed in Dyce just outside of the city center as a solo female travel & felt safe every step of the way as I walked about. Taxi service is expensive if you’re too far away from the main part of the city but hotels were more affordable which was worth it to me. I will definitely be going back. It’s a great location to use as a jumping off point to explore the Highlands or this side of Scotland especially if you’re looking for affordable lodging, easy airport access & accessible mass transit.
