This is more for the outdoorsy, farm, lake, and creek lovers. Dothan and Montgomery areas seem to be pretty safe for black people. Northern Florida which is an hour away is not!
I ONLY come to Birmingham,AL every other year because my Uncle hosts Thanksgiving since he has huge house on a farm. It forces us to get quality family time because it’s dead,no action. I do love the scenery especially since I’m from Florida (we don’t have season changes, summer all year and a week of winter lol). The atmosphere is very relaxing and picturesque. However, outside of views, there’s not much more Birmingham has to offer besides history museums and malls (I’m sure almost all of us has a mall in a our city.) Don’t come if you’re looking for an action-packed travel destination, but if you desire peace and tranquility, love history lessons and the farm life, then this would be the perfect place for you.
I spent about 4 days in Alabama and adventure wise, it was a flop. The most exciting thing I did was go to the Birmingham Zoo and that’s all there was.
