I live in DC and Baltimore is “just down the road”. I have been to Baltimore many times but yesterday I experienced so much more. I still get lost in Baltimore but I think that is just because I am meant to explore more of it. I have never had a bad time in Baltimore. It has always been “big fun”. Beautiful architecture, a mix of people and down home. There are pockets of spaces that are rough and there are pockets that are pristine. From Druid Hill park to Patterson park and the charm of Fells Point and the harbor, Baltimore does not lack for activities. Black owned businesses are popping! Make sure you check out the Reginald F. Lewis museum for billions in inspiration! They do have an interesting mix of people. They is a homeless population across the city. But the city feels very community driven and people take care of their space. I ate at Loch Bar on the harbor. Don’t believe it is black owned but the food was good. On a previous visit I went to Yeiboh Kitchen and the food was delicious. If I ever need a get away Baltimore has my vote.
Baltimore is a trip that my girls and I take every year for the last couple years and it is so fun filled. There’s so much to do we find new things to do every year that we go to add our our itinerary every year hands-down whatever no matter what we always go to the balian spa it’s in Virginia. It’s so nice. It’s a great way to treat yourself is 130 for the day to enter. They have free classes that you can add that you can go into as well as all the pools and the sauna that are available phenomenal the photo that I have here is of an art. It’s like a interactive art gallery. It was so fun. Oh my goodness it was like we were big kids and it was amazing. I don’t remember the name of it unfortunately but it was amazing. Look up interactive art museums in Baltimore la vie an amazing brunch spot that I would definitely suggest y’all going to try out is right on the water. It’s a brunch buffet but like make it bougie you don’t gotta get up. They bring it to you as many times as you want. caught a ferry ride for like a dinner or cruise. That was amazing because it was like a dinner cruise/kind of party. The DJ was phenomenal. Because of how highly concentrated the black population is in the Baltimore area It was like a mini family reunion. I loved it. 10/10 we’ve been going there for 3 years so definitely check it out. Stop by the DMV area if you get a chance.
Baltimore, for many years now, has been shining a little bit more of its unique edge. It’s absolutely a city for black travelers and has a large young black professionals community. There are so many creators and black businesses there as well. Quiet as it’s kept, I would say the food scene is giving DC a run for its money. I went to work remotely at a black-owned cafe called Swill, where I ordered a Brown Sugar French Toast with Everlasting Life soup based with pumpkin broth and topped with herbs and root vegetables. Heaven! A friend suggested I check out Vinyl & Pages, a black-owned book/record store located in the Bromo Arts District. I was there for almost two hours. The records they were playing in the store gave a retro vibe to the whole place. Baltimore’s scene is slept on and there are some really great gems if you look in the right places.

The sports bar/ restaurant City view has an inviting environment and plenty of great menu options. The service is immaculate with great engagement and attentiveness. The music and dance are unmatched. Everyone loves it here and never wants to leave trust me.
BLISS Meadows Farm is the perfect example of what can be done with abandoned lots and homes in Baltimore and beyond. Bliss Meadows is 10 acres of urban farmland founded by Atiya Wells, a black female farmer. The farm has goats, chickens, beehives and a plethora of fruits and vegetables. Bliss Meadows is the perfect place to teach Black children about the importance of growing their own food and remind Black adults that our ancestors had access to acres of farmland before it was stolen.
I have traveled to Baltimore several times. The Inner Harbour is a great place to stay. Great for a romantic weekend. I recommend The Rusty Scupper for a special evening with great food. It is right on the water and can be followed up with a stroll along the water. Not everywhere is safe to stay in the city if you’re not from there, however I definitely feel it is safe for black travelers overall.
I chose to visit Baltimore to view a baseball game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. It’s a bucket list item to view a game at every MLB stadium as well as travel to every major city in every state. I would have to say Baltimore was everything that i researched. Great food, great nightlife and great views along the Harbor. I didn’t witness any of the negativity associated with Baltimore and i cant wait to go back.
Baltimore was a great trip for my family. We traveled there to watch the Orioles play baseball at home. As a baseball family we loved this town. The babe Ruth museum was a short walk from the ballpark and our hotel. Being a baseball fan and being able to say I was in the house babe Ruth was born in is a huge deal. So Baltimore MD was an amazing trip for us.
There is a lot of black people. The city is very lively. In my opinion it’s a party city. You go there to have fun.Day or night there was always a party. I got there by airplane. Try to get your tickets way in advanced for a reduced price. Make you saved a bit more money for fun.
So Baltimore is definitely a gem of a city to visit. From beautiful harbor views to amazing crab cakes, it’s a city that has a lot to do and a lot of history. The Baltimore Acquarium is always a great time and there are a ton of things to do with your family like professional baseball and football games. The inner harbor will offer more upscale options with restaurants in the Four Seasons Baltimore like Wit & Wisdom. I personally believe Baltimore gets a bad reputation…are there bad locations, sure but I can say that for any city. I would recommend visiting and eating everything with Old Bay seasoning !!
So baltimore is a fairly cheap city in Maryland. However, the city of baltimore is NOT the safest place to live in. Now of course, there are always good and bad to every neighborhood.
Baltimore also houses one of the nations most elite schools, Johns Hopkins University, as well as HeadQuarters like Under Armour, and has Four Seasons Hotel and Morgan Stanley offices.
There is history that lies in baltimore and you can see it through some of the buildings on Charles street or other streets nearby!
Nightlife is pretty decent, they are known for pubs and bars. You won’t find much clubs in D.C.
Definitely visit the Baltimore Harbor and grab some crabs while at it! The most beautiful, peaceful part of baltimore!
