Carriacou, Grenada

This is a great location for solo travel or a romantic getaway. I took a trip here with my friend per the recommendation of our resort (True Blue Bay) which was just 5 mins from the Maurice Bishop Airport. The main island of Grenada was so lovely, we decided to extend our stay and explore Carriacou, a nearby remote island for the weekend. We took a small charter plane courtesy of SVG Air and enjoyed a weekend there at Bougles Bed & Breakfast. Carriacou is full of rich Melanin with a humble ease to it that makes you feel a sense of timelessness. Pure in nature and loving, safe energy all around. I spent the day at Paradise Beach as well as did a full day tour with a Black Owned Tour Company – by Sherwyn *just as for him in town, that’s how small and close knit it is. Everyone knows him. He owes us nothing!!! We island hopped on his boat, enjoying music and drinks. We snorkeled, swam, saw tropical fish and more. Lunch was Lobster, Veggies, Crab, Pasta Salad along with small bites that were sold by the locals. There was no rush. At all. I felt this same sense of timelessness at Paradise Beach. Travel Tip : Plan ahead for your transport, ask a friend or your concierge for support – as cabs/taxis run far and few. This was our last stop before flying back to mainland Grenada and truly was the highlight of our trip.

I met a woman on the boat trip who I’d become friends for life with. She and I are now business partners and I’m so grateful for our encounter. Carriacou has it’s own Carnivale too. So check it out! Great Place to retreat for total and complete serenity.
