Clarendon, Texas was one of the most uncomfortable towns I’ve ever driven through. There are large white PVC pipe crosses scattered throughout the town, including one that’s around 25 feet tall, which gives it a very unsettling feeling. As a minority, it did not feel friendly or welcoming at all. My advice: go the speed limit, don’t stop, and keep driving. Definitely not a place I’d want to drive thru again.
We just went through this town at 1am and everything felt weird and creepy. We looked it up on Greenbook and found a review which answered our questions!! We drove through as quickly whole obeying the speed limits and got out of there!! Minorities should mot stop here for any reason!
This town is CREEPY! We used to drive through a few times a year traveling from Las Vegas, NV, to central Texas. There are tall, metal, white crosses every 20 feet all through the town. To clarify, I’m white and WILL NOT stop here under any circumstances. If you are a minority, I’d imagine this town would be very dangerous. If traveling, prepare to get gas elsewhere. It amazes me that I have not seen anything on the news about this place yet. Please be safe.
