I went to Crête few years ago. We rented a car to visit the north of the island it was incredible, beautiful and still very green. If you like nature, mountains and beaches with black sand it’s the right place. They also have very good food!
I went island hopping in Greece with my sister.
Crete was by far my favorite island.
If you enjoy adventurous things like hiking, cliff diving, snorkeling, etc. This place needs to be added to your travel bucket list.
My Favorite place to visit was Seitan Port. It’s a secluded beach that not many people know about but sharing is caring.
What to bring:
Water
Snacks
Drinks
Sun screen
Sneakers
Towel
Backpack
Swim wear
Cover up
WARNING: if you are afraid of heights, this is not the excursion for you.
Also if you cannot drive a standard car, please don’t try to learn on this trip.
The drive to Seitan Port is breathtaking. Be careful some places have no guard rails. When you finally arrive to the beach. You will have need to pay 1 euro to park your car. In order to reach the beach you need to hike to down the mountain. Trust me, it’s worth it.
There were about 12 people (locals) there when I arrived. The water is super clear and calm.
Crete Greece was an amazing experience and such a beautiful place. The people we met were extremely helpful and the waterfront in Heraklion is very beautiful. We took so many pictures while being there. The food is amazing and we already love Greek food so to actually have it in Greece was everything and the night life is pretty cool. The only thing we did not like about Crete was the airport, it is tiny old and very dirty and very hot but other than that it was a great place to visit.
I lived in Crete for a year and I have to admit that it’s one of the only places that I’ve considered revisiting. I usually live in a place for a little while then move on and don’t look back but Crete was special. I enjoyed the people, the food, the culture, and the architect. There’s really nothing to not like about Crete. I would highly recommend that everyone who’s capable go to visit Crete. The province of Chania offers great shopping, food, and awesome views of the water and lighthouse.
Crete has to be the quintessential European travel destination. This is a spot for travelers of all types would enjoy. For bulk of historical sites, you’d want to visit Heraklion. For the beach, you’d want to visit Chania. I traveled solo and stayed in Chania and travelled to other sites. In Chania there is a lot to do. You could : have a very affordable meal in the old Venetian harbor, hike one of the largest gorges in Europe ( Samaria gorge), bathe at the fabulous Balos beach, or rent a paddle boat (and bathe in the water) in the beautiful Lake Kournas. You are sure to have an amazing time.
I’ve visited Crete twice and I loved it. I loved Chania Town and the riverfront. There is so much history there. And the food was to die for. The nightlife was awesome and it kicked off early. Beware of Gypsy beggars constantly asking for spare change.
