I currently live in Findlay. It is safe to stop her and shop or get gas or even stay at a hotel. The town is nice. However, there are many people here who like to drive with confederate flags on their cars/trucks, displayed in the windows of there homes, and even wear as jackets. The people are nice and will never show their racism outwardly. It will be subtle, such as following you while you shop in TJ Maxx, purposely not giving you your change in your hand, or only asking your white friend if they need anything while you are having lunch (all things I experience). I have been fortunate enough to have found people here I can trust, but that is a very small group of people. I don’t trust many people here. The black population here is growing, but is still small. So, it is safe to stop here and stay here, just know that you will encounter many micro aggressions. There is even a Black Heritage Library here that I would encourage anyone stopping here to visit. We also have a black owned bakery that recently opened, Mon Coeur Bakery, and a black owned lash spa, Vanity Lash and Spa. I done get lashes, but any time I can support our people, I absolutely will.
