The island has so much adventure! It’s really useful to have a motorbike here Grab doesn’t work EXTREMELY well here… it’s very hit or miss. It also means that traveling the island is easier because there are very hilly areas, especially if you want to see waterfalls, that having a motorbike are useful for. Go see the many waterfalls, the viewpoints, some hiking, or explore the beach areas and see a temple!
I traveled to Ko Samui with my friend for a week after two days in Bangkok. I found a really cheap flight for about $40! I was excited to experience a very different atmosphere in comparison to Bangkok.
We stayed at The Code, in a penthouse suite. We found a good deal on bookings.com. What I liked about this hotel was that it was secluded. The hotel also provided us with a cell phone to use while we were out to make phone calls, which I thought was very unique an cool! We went to a beach party at Nikki Beach and called our hotel when we were ready for them to come pick us up. When booking with bookings.com it also included a one way transfer from the airport which ended up saving us time and money. We also rented a scooter from the hotel which was about $10 for the entire week. Very very cheap. Additionally, when booking through bookings.com breakfast and an hour Thai massage were also included. All wins.
I liked the beach the best, because it wasn’t crowded and the water was pretty blue. There are a lot of people who try and sell you things on the beach which can be annoying at times but you can also bargain with them. I really like Henna and was able to get a really detailed design for $10.
Food is so cheap here. We always ate out on the beach because it was so peaceful. Cocktails were also pretty cheap too.
They love black people here. I’m convinced that all of Asia does. We were treated like queens here for a very affordable price.
Because this is one of my favorite islands in Thailand, I would definitely recommend visiting here!
Koh Samui was by far my favourite island in Thailand, it was a lot more peaceful in comparison to Phuket but there were lots of things to regardless.
I found some of the best meals I had in Thailand were had in Koh Samui, their night markets are full of delicious cheap snacks and the BEST rolled ice cream ever. Like the rest of Thailand everything is very cheap and you get a lot for what you pay for.
My favourite restaurants were based by the beach, there was one little family run restaurant with the best chicken fried rice – and be sure to check out the night market, especially if you’re looking for a cheap meal.
Ko Samui is one of my favorite islands is Thailand. It’s super family friendly and great for young people. After visiting the upbeat cities of Thailand, Ko Samui is more toned down and relaxation vibes. Ko Samui is very Affordable. You’ll find that the Island has many Villas priced as a “normal hotel rate” starting from $80 a night. Here we lived like Kings and queens for the low! You can go to Lamai night market on Sundays which food cost as little as 20 cents USD! The waters on this island are very calm with no waves so we didn’t have to worry about our 1 year old daughter getting swepted away by roaring waves. The island is pretty small so it’s easy getting around around and fast. Even though this is a small island you’ll find tons of shopping malls, stalls, restaurants, and a bunch of nightlife. If your looking for a real party your only a Island away at Ko Pha Ngan where they celebrate the full moon party! You can’t miss this !!
If you want to visit thailand but be away from the party scene then Ko Samui is the place to go! Same vibe as Phuket just way more chill. Same activities (You can bathe/ride elephants, take pictures with tigers, snake shows, feed alligators watersports, etc.) The island is very relaxing and quiet. The food is the best I’ve EVER had!! Deff check out the restaurants in the farmers village. We had a luxury Airbnb and it was less then $100 a night. https://abnb.me/xX102gqBkL
We rented a motor bike to get around and it cost us about $15 a day. Overall the trip was amazing because of how affordable it was & the endless amount of things to do.
