This town is awful and very unwelcoming. We were followed by the police all around town. My friends and I are Black and we had one white friend we were visiting near the Dollar General on E provost.
For some reason we thought it was a good idea to walk to Dodds park and the police actually stopped us and asked what we were doing here and we said just visiting our friend. The officer only questioned us and not the friend who is white. We said we’re visiting our friends and now walking to the park. We got stopped near Walnut and locust. Police asked for our names and addresses and said “there’s been reports of people stealing TVs” and the calls backup and two SUV trucks came out and started yelling at us to give them our names and addresses. This happened quite a few years ago when I wasn’t aware this was an illegal stop.
I wouldn’t recommend traveling here at all.
