I loved my trip to Placencia Belize. The people were incredibly warm and kind, not just nice. They were helpful & the fact that English is an official language there is awesome. I would definitely return to the same property that stayed, at which was Swan villas on the lagoon side in the Maya Beach community area. I wasn’t able to swim at the beach due to the sarggasm algae that was on all the beaches, but there was one local spot to swim near the pier called The Point. This beach was very clean. Multiple natives told me to check that place out and it did not disappoint! I visited the Point 3 days during my trip. I really had an amazing time. And some very good food. Carmen’s is a really small family-operated spot that has awesome street food. The Shack, which is right on the beach at The Point & near the municipal pier was delicious too. I highly recommend the Lobster Kebab. The fry jacks, from Vern’s Kitchen, which is a breakfast staple, were similar to a stuffed pita. That was really good. Were recommendations from the locals. There are lots of resorts in more touristy areas to check out. The have great bars and fancy cocktails and drinks Barefoot Bar, Tipsy Tuna & The Turtle Inn all had good drinks. I really love eating the local fare that the people who are actually native eat. The Grafuna culture is strong in placentia and I was lucky to be there at the beginning of their village celebration weekend.
