Puerto Vallarta is hands down the most beautiful and relaxing city I have been to this far. The views were amazing the entire time. I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Mousai which was an all-inclusive adults only resort. The quality of the overall resort and ambiance was a 10/10. I usually opt for a boutique hotel for a more intimate experience but the service and amenities really exceeded my expectations. Each room has a balcony which included a jacuzzi, hammock and additional seating area to enjoy the ocean sunset views.
As far as activities, the resort had anything you would want to do including kayaking, horseback riding, hiking, yoga, and spa services. Outside of the resort, we booked an excursion with Canopy River for the most scenic ATV ride and tequila tasting. Jalisco, Mexico is the home of Tequila, so if that is your drink of choice you will absolutely enjoy this part of Western Mexico. If you are looking for an unplugged vacation with jungle and ocean views, I would recommend Puerto Vallarta a million times over.
Puerto Vallerta, Jalisco, Mexico is very exotic place to travel. The history there is very unique in the fact that a lot of their architecture was the design from their original habitat which was owned by Spain so a lot of the buildings on top are red in the streets are cobblestone so you have to be careful when you wear heels and fancy shoes! There is also a jungle right outside of the main city of Puerto Vallarta, my husband and I explored there and it was hot and had beautiful scenery! One thing I learned on the Tequila tour in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico is that if tequila is not 100% agave it is considered a watered down tequila not real tequila and is the sort of tequila that will give you a headache so it’s best to drink top-of-the-line Tequila! So I found out I have been drinking the wrong tequila for a long time. I give this trip a 4.5 out of 5 only because my husband got sick the day before leaving and we believe it was the local food! Overall, it is a great place to visit!
Puerto Vallarta is one of my favorite cities to visit in Mexico, it has a sweet feel to it. The nightlife is amazing, mirrors US nightlife very much.
Nightclubs to visit:
La Santa – Nice setup, very Miami-esque. Pretty much section only, no standing room. Music is a mix, they very depending on the night.
Strana – Also a nice setup, Miami-esque vibes. Good drinks, also have a hip hop night (weekends).
La Vaquita – Home of the wet t-shirt contest..it get wild. It’s a dress down (jeans, cute sneakers/sandals) type vibe. Cheap drink prices, some of the top shelf are a little watered down. But overall a fun time to just enjoy the people you came with. Not a place to impress.
Mandala – Light, camera, actions.. literally. Light show, fire works.. think of the Miami strip (ocean ave) vibe.
Beachclub to visit:
Chicabal – A MUST! On the water, pool club – think Vegas pool party, with the exact same set up. Bottle girls, go-go dancers, etc. This place is a GOOD time.. but you will PAY for that good time. Prices are equivalent to US prices, but worth it. Go with a group.
I stayed at the Hilton Puerto Vallarta Resort and it was a great experience. The hotel is all inclusive with multiple restaurants and 24hr room service. There’s an adult area with a beautiful rooftop infinity pool with a picturesque view. The hotel staff is extremely nice and accommodating. For nightlife activities, the hotel plans everything. We went to a club called Mandala a few times and each time the hotel provided transportation and had a staff member travel with it us. They also planned it where we received a table and everything was already prepaid so we didn’t have to worry about a bill at the end of the night. Mandala was a lot of fun! There was one night where the Green Bay Packers were there. When traveling to Puerto Vallarta, I highly recommend staying at the Hilton Resort.
I went to Puerto Vallarta and it was an amazing experience. My friend and I chose to stay in 1 bedroom villas where we each at our own suite in the Puerto Vallarta area through our “Haywire Weekend” which worked out to about $975 per person. Puerto Vallarta is definitely a nightlife oriented area. Puerto Vallarta there are lots of beaches, restaurants and excursions to do. I would not recommend the food because it made me sick when i had the tacos out there! In addition, we had personal drivers look out for us and take to and back to our villa from our outings. “Haywire Weekend” had a yacht take us to a beautiful beach where we swam to the beach and diving off the yacht. I felt very safe the entire time i was in Puerto Vallarta. As for “travelling while black” everyone on the trip was cultured in African music making it a wonderful experience. “Haywire Weekend” was very nice & made us feel at home with no problems.
I had the pleasure of planning a beautiful trip to Puerto Vallarta not just for me but also for a great group of friends (8 people total) planning the trip was just such a great experience because the people there are so accommodating. They want you to come and experience their culture and take part in what it is the have to offer. We flew into Puerto Vallarta we stayed Jan 11-15 (tickets cost about $350 round trip) We stayed an amazingly beautiful resort hotel with jaw dropping views and it was worth every penny! ( https://www.hotelmousai.com) Ask for fransisco he will take great care of you!! Take my word for it! To me Puerto Vallarta isn’t like any other city in Mexico, Puerto Vallarta has its own rhythm to its own beat. People there are happy to be there. They have so much color on their streets and life. Not to mention the jungle covered mountains and the beaches with the biggest waves I think I’ve ever seen! Also if your planning on going between Dec-March it’s wale season prepare to be amazed. I got to experience the crystal clear waters Of the ocean and be physically moved by the most powerful waves I’ve ever encountered. I got to hike with the people I love through a jungle up a mountain and back down to this amazing waterfall where we were able to jump off a cliff into the river. I got to have lunch and dinner on a rooftop overlooking the ocean where we could actually see wales from time to time! Yes it is true that I cried when I left but Puerto Vallarta I thank you for reminding me to slow down and enjoy the beauty of life!
Ahhh Puerto Vallarta is literally a hidden gem. This place is full of beautiful scenery, great food, and happy people. Unlike the stigma that Mexico is full of dangerous cartel affiliated people; PV is actually a very clean and safe city. There are lots of tourists and the locals treat you well, they have lots of excursions available and everything is pretty straightforward just as long as you be sure to count your money correctly lol. I stayed at hotel mousai which was a diamond hotel on the far coast line of the string of resorts. This place was by far the best hotel I’ve ever stayed and the service was phenomenal with amazing views (see my insta). This was definitely the hardest vacation for me to part ways with. I would recommend Puerto Vallarta and hotel mousai to anyone looking for a complete getaway from reality and the ultimate relaxation. Safe travels everyone!
Mexico has got to be one of the most affordable destination to visit with a huge variety of places to go througout the country. My visit to Puerto Vallarta was amazing. I stayed at a all inclusive resort which makes sense to do in Mexico since they are easily accessible and affordable. With food drinks and everything included at an all inclusive resort your vacation is all set up for success.
Marieta islands is an absolute must if you come to Puerto Vallarta! Me and my friends took a tour that took us to the islands and then we had the option to either kayak or paddleboard in the ocean!
We visited Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon and stayed at a resort. But we did venture outside the gates a few times.
We did a full day tour which allowed us to explore the city and see it’s rich history. We also booked some fun excursions through Vallarta Adventures.
Our most favorite adventure was Rhythms of the Night. It’s a dinner and theater show in the middle of a tropical rain forest. First you take a boat ride to the island, the crew kept it lovey with drinks and music performances. Once you arrive right at sunset, you get off the boat and walk down a path lit with tiki torches and workers in jungle themed costumes. We then walked to the amphitheater which again was in the middle of the forest. And we watched a cultural show with fire, dance, and more. It was really cool! After that dinner time by the beach. Food was delicious!! After that you can chill in the hammocks on the beach until it’s time to head back. It was really an awesome experience. Felt kind of like Survivor and Broadway combined, with dinner!
The other excursion we did was Las Islas Marietas, which was a hidden beach. Soooo unfortunately we weren’t able to swim to the Hidden beach because the water was really choppy and neither of us are strong swimmers. And again we just got married so we weren’t about that risk taking life!! But we did do a little of the snorkeling and kayaking that also came with the adventure. It was fun times and great memories made!!
Stayed in a awesome Airbnb where we woke up to waves crashing with an ocean view on Valentines day. Weather was awesome in February were it wasn’t to hot or cold. I don’t know about the hotels here but I can say that there are plenty of Airbnb options that will help you manage the most bang for your buck.
Plenty of excursions including Paddleboarding, Zipline, ATV, jet skiing, parasailing and more. I enjoyed the zip lining and ATV excusion the guides were awesome! I liked how we drove through the mountains and zip lined in the forest where the movie “ Predator “ was filmed. Great atmosphere! The best tacos I ever had and were $1 each!!!!!
