Providence is a town that many people from Boston travel to escape the city. It is a tourist town and depending on the time of year it can be full of people or completely dead except for the locals. It is near the ocean so the weather is not as harsh as Boston, I went about twice. Being in New England of course its known for its sea food. It is also very gay friendly, having their own parade and etc. The people are friendly and as you drive down you see beautiful hilly sand hills due to it being so close to the ocean. I would recommend checking it out if ever in the area.

Traveling While Black
Rhode Island ! I know this is one of those states people don’t talk about lol. It’s the smallest state, literally an hour from tip to tip, but you can definitely find some hidden gems in the state.
One, the food is amazing! The best deep dish pizza I had was from a place called Cecilia’s in federal hill which is like their version of “little Italy.” Cute downtown area to visit.
The seafood is fresh and cheap. My sorority sisters and I went to downtown providence for brunch, I spent $40 for a meal that would’ve cost me $100 anywhere else plus half priced bottles of wine.
There is a black connect group called stay silent PVD. They always have events such as R&B events, they had Henny Palooza, live music, Ferry rides and so much more.
Don’t sleep on this state. Come for a quick weekend getaway and to experience a little something different. A
