Roanoke is a beautiful town! It has a large black population, though the city is still experiencing the after effects of redlining.
Some highlights are the Mill Mountain Star, which is one of the highest free-standing illuminated stars, and has a beautiful overlook.
For museums, there is a train museum that is pretty cool, and the Taubman Art Museum is gorgeous.
