My travels were some years back when I lived in Chesapeake, Va. I would drive from Chesapeake, Va to Memphis, TN; dropping my girls off for the summer to their Grandmother’s. Took U.S. 68, (I love to drive, and take the scenic route), on the way, we would stop at “Lover’s Lane” and taking in the scene…stopped into town, Whiteville, Va., because of a festival they were having, nice and laid back, food was good, atmosphere was great. Now, driving through Danville, Va, you have to drive the speed limit…you will get stopped (night or day). If you have to stop at a gas station, make sure it’s one that the pumps are updated with card readers…Whiteville, Va is very Mayberry ish.
