I traveled to Key West in April of 2021 with my ex. We didn’t see a lot of black people while there overall. Majority we saw during 10 day stay was white or looked white.
There weren’t many good food establishments. Many of the places we ate at around Key West after ordering and eating some of the food we ended up not finishing because it wasn’t appetizing.
Many of the beaches were rough to walk on. It was similar to walking on a lot of small rocks.
The best areas for a good beach vibe were the sand bars where you got there by boat.
Didn’t face any problems while there, just wasn’t appealing especially after visiting. You go to mile marker 1 and some of the other historical places but wasn’t really a place I would visit again
All of my trips to Jamaica have been as a solo black male. I have never had any issues there. I typically rent a car anywhere internationally I go. Drove to most major towns/parishes, there’s a lot to see and do there on land or in the water. A lot of opportunities for good Jamaican food, excursions, learning the local culture, dancehalls, scenic areas, and so much more.
I have stayed on some of the resorts and several AirBnB’s while visiting Jamaica. Depending on your desires or goals, they have many great places to stay.
One thing I would caution people about so they can stay aware of their surroundings and where they visit, Jamaica has a high murder rate each year typically. I believe most is gang on gang violence and concentrated to certain areas. Like most countries, they have areas that aren’t very safe. I have never been a victim of violence or seen such violence while I was there.
Like most countries, in Jamaica there are people looking for love but there are also people looking for financial stability or growth but disguised as love. Be mindful, protect your heart and finances.
