My visit to New York was everything. I went to visit some of my sorority sisters and attend curlfest. The culture was so rich. I stayed in Harlem and got to explore Brooklyn. The curlfest was lit. There was different shades of brown (beautiful melanin) and a variety of hair textures/curl patterns. There were many vendors and music to keep the vibe going. Many of the people in attendance were friendly and willing to share their hair regiments. We are at Lennox Saphire the day after curlfest for brunch. ((Please order the grilled lamb FOR ME (: )). I also had the opportunity to site see while in Brooklyn. I visited the Apollo theater (if you go the show happens on Wednesdays, you can sign up to attend on line), Black Ink tattoo shop on 125th (the guys at the shop were friendly and open to answering questions), Langston Houghes house (history!!! The house he would write in), the boil wavery (amazing seafood, similar to hot n juicy in LA), and I was able to experience a train show (Michael Jackson Impression, dancing while in movement). I almost forgot.... you have to visit Brooklyn cupcakes (founded by two boriqua women) and get the tres leches cupcake!!!! I’ll be back New York!!! (:
Jamaica was amazing. I went with a group on a Carnival Cruise. I visited for a day and went horseback riding on the beach. The guide was well informed and aware of the culture and was able to share with us along the way. The views were magical and my horse was friendly. Once we got off of the ship there were venders to choose from to pick our activities. We also had jerked chicken which was nothing short of delicious at an affordable price. I plan on going back for a longer stay so that I can experience the culture more.
I went on this trip for my 25th birthday. It was amazing. This was my very first international trip outside of going to Mexico for spring break in college. This experience was so full of culture. I went in October and the weather was fairly warm. During my stay I visited and experienced the Burj Khalifa (world’s tallest building), Dubai Mall (If you like to shop this would be a great place to go), Desert Safari (food and entertainment were great but riding in the dunes were a nightmare because I get car sick), Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi (breathtaking and full of culture), we went to a big party on the beach for Halloween where they had hookah on the sand and that was amazing. This was an amazing trip.
I am staying at the Westin resort which is pretty pricey. I don’t have the exact amount being that I am traveling with family. This resort is surrounded by others which also have restaurants at each location. The peak time to come would be December to February during whale season. This is very tourist-y location. It’s very relaxing and the beaches are beautiful. If you can try their pineapples when you come. They are extremely fresh and delicious. There’s a restaurant in Lahaina (Down the hatch... as seen on food network) that serve a $22 crab and lobster grilled cheese sandwich that is a must to try wheb visiting.
I stayed in Singapore for two days and enjoyed every moment. My favorite part of the trip was by far the SuperTree grove. The light show was breath taking. I would go again and again. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in little India. The pool and service at that hotel was amazing. The rooms were spacious.
I stayed at Regalia Residence (AirBnB). On the top floor they have an infinity pool with an amazing view. The street food was amazing. If you love ice cream like I do please try the coconut and mango ice cream that is served in half of a coconut. The weather is pretty warm. Midnight is around 75-80 degrees. Very rich culture!
Location: Bali, Indonesia
Date: March 2018
Weather: The average temperature this month is 27°C (80°F). There was casual rain during my visit
Currency: 1 Indonesian Rupiah equals 0.000073 US Dollar
Stay: IZE Seminyak
Cost: $311 USD/per night
Review: The staff were very professional and welcoming. The room was clean and neat. The pool was very relaxing with an open bar (can order food).
Highlight: The food was amazing at the hotel. The people were friendly. The weather was warm but relaxing.
Adventure/Highlight: Breakfast and bathing elephants ((Mason Adventure))
Cost: $105 USD
Review: This excursion was amazing. The only downside was that many of the elephants were changed down in open land. Some of the staff utilized a sharp object that was in the shape of a hammer to keep the animals in control. Outside of that bathing them was an amazing experience and the food was great!
Adventure/Highlight: Full day tour that included the Bali swing, Monkey Forrest, Rice terraces, lunch, and waterfall.
Cost: $65 USD
Review: Everything was so rich in culture. Full day tours are definitely worth it. The swing locations are definitely picture worthy.
My Experience: I had a blast in Bali! I stayed at the Ize Seminyak Hotel. The food was amazing and affordable. The staff were very pleasant. The pool was relaxing and had an open bar where you can order food and beverages. The first day I went to the Mason elephant park and lodge. I love elephants. Unfortunately, many of them were chained and trained. Overall, the experience of being up close and personal was magical. I also did a day tour through trip advisor (hire a driver-Ubud). I went to the jungle swing, rice terrace at Tegalalang village, sacred monkey Forrest, and had lunch at a nice restaurant in Ubud. It rained every day but it didn’t last all day. When traveling check the weather. Also, the day that I left I took an early flight out to Singapore due to the Holiday. Everything was closed down.
