A Little About Me:
Just a all round dope guy trying to travel the world finding the hidden gems on the beaten track. Humble mixed with a bit of bouji.. some would say that’s not possible.
Instagram @papabecks
So I was strolling through Instagram one day and saw one of my followers post a pic.. Stair way to heaven it said.. me being an angel though dammmm that’s my kinda place to go visit and let me tell you this visit was one of the riskiest things I’ve done in a foreign country. As soon as I saw her pic I started to research how I could get there, and how I could climb these massive square blocks and get me a “do it for the gram” pic ;) Little did I know it would be blocked off by 3 meter high fences and patrolled by police to stop people from climbing them (health and safety they say) We took a train from Barcalona to Monserat, then a cable car to the top of the mountains. I remember waiting for 30 minutes for the clouds to clear up and try to sus a way up.. it was one of those ones where there was never going to be a “right time” so I just pulled up my shorts and socks and got my monkey on, leaped over the fence with a little luck from the wall one the side and climbed up way to the very top for my shot! And there it is.. papabecks on the top of the Stairway to Heaven. :)
So being from the U.K. the whole estigma behind Colombia is really something that should “worry” you. They way the media portrayed Colombia really made some of my friends and family question why I was going there. But what you may “stereotypically” think of Colombia is a fraud. This is by far in the top places I’ve EVER been. Medellin you won my heart!! Food, people, weather, love, happiness it’s got it all. So where to stay you ask!? Me and friend freestyled it and luckily made a friend quiet quickly who advised us that one of the nicer areas to stay was Poblado, the uptown part of the city right in the middle of the main salsa bars and clubs and restaurants. Ended up finding a cute little spot high up at the top of the hills called “Energy Living” modern fresh spascious apratments with a rooftop pool and gym. Definitely a one to add to the Bucket list of places to stay!
Okok so you may be thinking what is Wattens? Where is Wattens? Is it worth going to Wattens? Well the answer would be YES. All for this one hotel/spa.. no really my whole stay was booked soley for this one hotel call Aqua Dome (google it and have a look on my insta page @papabecks It’s one of the most unique places I’ve been, flew into Innsbruck then a 45 minute Drive to the hotel which I was greeted by Oscar and a glass of champagne. Taken to my room with the most breathtaking views out onto the Austria alps! In summer it’s just amazing and from the pictures I’ve seen when it snows.. just wow! All included in the hotel stay price is access to spa 3000 to completely chill out and destress. Like come on after all that travelling this is just what you need! Amazing hotel definitely recommend this one to you all.
Guys! If you like fish! This is the place to guy know as the fishing town of Colombia you have fishermen go out daily to catch fresh fish which can be cooked for you in front of your very eyes. If you do try a restaurant called “La Mulata” great for fish and amazing shrimps!!
Soooooo, you’ve picked Bali! Now what area? Better yet what Hotel?! W Hotel - Seminyak Now we know we got W Hotels all over the world and they’re becoming a lot more popular but the W in Seminyak is a Gem, the staff bend over backwards for you and nothing is too much. Rooms spacious and equipped with all the necessities. In a great lively area full of great restaurants and clubs and bars. Be sure to hit up Potato head club. But really book the W! You won’t be disappointed.
