The highlight of my trip was going on a tour with Alex Rocha where we got to experience “The Real Cartegena” During this tour we were able to immerse into the local culture and learned about the music food, people, customs and we also really got the delve into the Black history and African influence of Cartegena. My visit was in 2018 and Cartegena was unfortunately going through a ton of construction & gentrification so the vibe may be a little different as locals are pushed out:(
