Your home is what you make it, wherever you make it! Such a great time. Da Nang was peaceful, relaxing, and fun wrapped up in one. Best places to stay are the hotels located on the beach. Some are beachfront and some are across the street either are equally beautiful and the beach is easily accessible. There are many small boutique hotels that are very cheap; price range about $25-$40 per night with breakfast included (full Western/Asian). Locals and staff are super friendly and eager to help you find things to do and help you get around. I stayed at Halina Hotel and apartment. It was a boutique hotel across the street from the beach. the rooftop pool and bar/restaurant was my favorite resting spot. it was clean, well decorated, and the breakfast was great as well as the restaurant's food. I visited a spa at a larger hotel directly in front which was amazing. The spa was a little pricey but still worth it. I booked the hotel through Agoda. Some of the staff spoke English and all were super friendly and helpful. there is also a bar located on the 1st floor upon entry. The hotel welcomes you with a drink and fruit basket. The beach is just ok, nothing amazing about it but the city itself is worth the visit. Be sure to visit the 3D art museum, love garden, and bridges while there. Wonderful city! I can't wait to go back.
Phenom Penh is heavily rich in culture! I am in love with seeing new countries, learning about different cultures, and embracing new people. This is one of the reasons I wanted to travel here. There are many different temples to see and even just driving around in a tuk-tuk you can see the immense culture and the history of the country all around you. The Royal Palace is a cool place to visit and costs $10. If the blue flag is raised that means the current king is staying there, which I think is really cool he stays there from time to time. Within the Royal Palace, you are able to see art, statues, temples, previous royalty costumes, swords, jewelry and so much more. You can get a guided tour for an extra $5. You also get free entry to The Silver Pagoda. This place houses some other cultural artifacts of the royal families and the city. It's named for the floor being completely made of Silver. If you choose to visit here or any other temples do note that both men and women have to cover your shoulders and knees out of respect and per their religious beliefs. Also, you cannot wear scarves in the Royal Palace and some areas are unable to be photographed. You also have to take your shoes off in the Royal Palace and when visiting temples. Another cool temple to see that is not very far from the Royal Palace is Wat Phnom pagoda that cost $1. very beautiful and there are sometimes a few monkeys around. I also took a tuk-tuk ride around the city for about 45 minutes which only costs me $5. The tuk-tuk driver was literally my tour guide and just drove me around showing me different cultural buildings and sightings as he gave me the history of it all. he even stopped so I could take photographs or walk around certain areas. There are many other places to visit here that are great to learn more about Cambodia, it's culture and history.
Koh Rong island is so relaxing and peaceful. It is not heavily populated with locals nor tourist. I can probably count how many people I saw for the entire week I was there. The views remind you as to why you work so hard; it's so you can have the luxury to see God's amazingly beautiful creations! The sand is white and the water is clear and some parts teal blue. The weather was perfect for a stroll on the beach, laying by the pool, or on the balcony of your bungalow to read. There weren't any panhandlers or locals trying to sell you things it was just PEACEFUL! This was my purpose of coming to the island but I didn't think I would be as relaxing as it was. I wanted to escape my busy hustle and bustle city life and this definitely was the place for it. I went during the raining season so there were some rain/thunderstorms once or twice throughout the day but it didn't last long and the sun was back out right after. Locals and staff were super friendly and no one bothered you but were only super helpful and catering. Wifi worked great but I didn't want it as I locked all technology up in the safe of my bungalow. I slept, ate, read, explored and did a few excursions. This trip was strictly for relaxing and it over exceeded my expectations. I look forward to visiting again.
