Anguilla was the most beautiful place I’ve ever experienced. Scroll through my page and find photos and videos. I literally think about this island every day! The hospitality at the Carimar Beach Club was divine! I felt safe, The staff was so kind, (I consider them family after one stay), they were resourceful and accommodating. The amenities made me feel like I was home. The water was warm, crisp and multiple shades of blue. I loved being awakened by the roosters every morning. The food was SO fresh. We enjoyed QUALITY live music at Leon’s and the Four Seasons which were within walking distance and a short cab ride away. We also visited other beaches including Shoal’s Bay, which gave a different but beautiful vibe and RendezVous beach which gave a chill local vibe. I loved that we could take the Ferry over to St. Marteen & Sint Martin to shop and explore. If you’re open to it, go during off season. It’s quiet!! Stay at the Carimar, buy groceries or place a grocery order through the front desk. We enjoyed having fresh food and the option to cook when we didn’t feel like going out to eat. Especially if during off season when many restaurants are closed. I didn’t get a party/excursion vibe at all and that’s ok, that was not my purpose. All and all, My skin, my aura, my well-being were all enhanced by this trip. Next time I visit I would love to stay a night at Malliouhana! Whew!
If you are looking for that quintessential crystal blue Caribbean water, Anguilla should be your go-to destination. Anguilla is by far one of the most beautiful islands I’ve ever been to. In order to get to Anguilla, you do have to fly into Sint Maarten. I would recommend flying in on the Dutch side and then taking a ferry on the Dutch side to Anguilla, if you want to save a little money. While the island is small, you can literally drive from one end of the island to the next in a day, I would definitely recommend renting a car and exploring everything Anguilla has to offer.
Some of my must see spots to go to are really all of the beaches. Any beach you go to in Anguilla is a sure win! I personally loved Shoal Bay and Savannah Bay.
Shoal Bay is a gorgeous insta-worthy white sand beach that has just enough trees to give you some much needed shade. The water is extremely refreshing, you can snorkel at the beach and pretty much partake in most water activities.
One of my favorite things to do in Anguilla was to go kayaking. Because the water is so clear, it’s really cool to be able to go out deeper in the ocean and see all of the exotic fish. Another activity that is fun to do is horseback riding on the beach at sunset. It’s a whole vibe !! Definitely do this if you can or add it to your bucket list.
Lastly, the food in Anguilla is great. If you’re looking for some amazing local eats go to Landsome Road and eat at Ken’s BBQ spot, you won’t be disappointed. They have a little bit of everything ! Last time I went I had some grilled white fish and lobster !! AMAZING.
All in all Anguilla does not disappoint. It’s the perfect destination for a traveler that wants to relax, decompress and loves good food and the beach. If that’s you, put Anguilla on your travel list!
Anguilla… I cannot recommend it enough. I have been to a good number of beaches and Anguilla’s always come out on top. If you love the idea of barefoot luxury, beautiful sunsets and friendly culture then Anguilla is for you.
Getting here generally requires an international flight to neighboring St. Martin followed by a puddle jumper flight or short boat ride to Anguilla. Some airlines offer service from Puerto Rico, and I believe a direct flight from Florida is in the works. This might be off-putting to some, but I enjoy the adventure and exclusivity. Anguilla stands in stark contrast to St. Martin as there are no cruise ships, casinos or water skis. Instead you will find a tranquil, high-end aura here with the accommodations to match. It is just slightly off the beaten path enough without being too remote or secluded. With regard to prices, they are steep. The rooms vary from resort view kings (one room) to multiple room suites and entire residences. They generally use a high season, low season pricing model but even for the smallest room (which is still quite large!) in low season prices start around $1,000 USD per night. Fear not, deals can be had. Subscribe to their mailing list for promotions. Also, Virtuoso travel agents sometimes can offer attractive packages. Quick travel tip to save money: I almost always go off season to pricier destinations because the prices are lower and the crowds are fewer. Here, I usually stay in a suite.
Each time I’ve gone to Anguilla I’ve stayed at the Four Seasons (formerly Viceroy) property, which is a marvel. It is large, sits on the convergence of Barnes and Mead bays, visually stunning and was decorated by celebrity designer Kelly Wearstler. You are in for something special. The staff always remembers me and it feels like my home away from home. The food is solid and reasonably priced. The rooms are large and full of beautifully opulent and eccentric pieces.
Competition is heating up though as the gorgeous Cap Juluca property was recently renovated and purchased by the Belmond group, which in turn was purchased by LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton. I just might have to split my next trip between the Four Season and the Belmond. Can’t wait!
One of my best friends went to medical school at St. James in Anguilla, and I went with another friend to visit her in June of 2017. I knew from her pictures (and google searches) that it was a beautiful place but let me tell you, no manner of HD picture can do this place justice. I’ve been to some beautiful beaches in my travels but nothing tops the beaches in Anguilla. The first time my friend took us to Mead’s Bay, my mouth hung open for several minutes.
The wonderful thing about Anguilla’s beaches is that unlike other Caribbean destinations, there are no crowds even at the popular spots. If you prefer to be around people you can pay for a lounge chair at the hotels or restaurants and hang out, have some drinks and food. Even then, it’s not what I would consider a crowd. Or you could ditch everyone, go for a long walk and take a swim in solitude.
If you’re a true beach lover, then in my opinion Anguilla is at the top of the charts, no question. I definitely plan to go back although keep in mind, this place is not cheap – but that’s the subject of another review.
Have you ever seen the postcards of the blue water with the perfect sand??? Well ladies and gentlemen I’m convinced they took that picture in Anguilla! Upon arrival (my bestie and I took a ferry from Sint Maarten), I couldn’t help but notice how calm and quaint the island was. There was a bus that took us to the beach and when we got out all I could say was lawd have mercy! My family is West Indian so I’ve been to plenty of nice beaches but this right here took the damn cake. The water was so blue and clear…the sand was so soft and white…we couldn’t see anything else for miles-it was truly paradise. We tanned, relaxed, enjoyed the water and had a mini photo shoot for the gram in true bestie style lol…after that, we went to swim with dolphin (which I was terrified about) but it was such a good experience! The dolphins were so gentle and the instructors were fun. They made us feel safe in the water and gave great instructions on how to interact with the dolphins. Such a beautiful island, it’s definitely worth a visit!
I visited the beautiful Island of Anguilla ?? during my visit to St Maarten. It’s just about 25 minutes via ferry from And boy we’re we happy to have experienced. Anguilla features some of the most beautiful clear sandy white beaches. It’s a very exotic island and very romantic. The people were very friendly and welcoming, spent the entire day and would definitely go back.
