This is a very racially and culturally integrated city. There are really only two decent hotels that I’ve visited: the Hyatt on the Hudson and the Marriott Regency. I lived in JC at the time; so, I only ate at the hotels’ restaurants. Both were good but not otherwise memorable. My favorite places to eat during the Summer was Surf City near the Marine Blvd Marina and the Zeppelin Hall Beergarden. They are both casual dinning restaurants but the Surf City Beach Bar & Restaurant serves a great Burger and a fabulous Lobster Roll special. Since it is owned by the same family as Zeppelin Hall, the Burgers there are great too. Both have periodic theme weeks like Baconfest, Oktoberfest and the beach bar has various themes too even though it is only open during the summer. For fine dinning, it is worth driving into Manhattan and visiting Joseph’s Italian restaurant, Delmonico’s, Harry’s, Trinity Place (all in lower Manhattan), Keen’s Steakhouse, Smith & Wollensky’s (in Midtown Manhattan).

Who Knew??? Our family just came back from a wonderful 5-day getaway to Atlantic City, NJ. For people who think Atlantic City is only for gamblers, then think again. There is so much to do for all ages, and we tried to do it all. The best part is, AC is one of the most affordable places that I have visited in the domestic US. We were there in August and the weather was perfect. Kelsey’s Soul Food Restaurant is one of the best soul food restaurants that I have visited. 10 out of 10. The boardwalk, the many options for dinning, and entertainment and lodging were mind blowing. It’s truly a hidden gem on the east coast. We are ready to book for next year.
