We stayed at the all-inclusive Diani Beach Sea Resort. We were greeted with a welcome drink and the porter directed us to your sea view room. Every day there are things to do at the resort and they have night shows for the guests. A nice touch was the afternoon tea and drinks throughout the day. The food was delicious ( beware of the monkeys). There are monkeys that roam the grounds but there are guards that scare them away with slingshots. The beach is just a short walk down the path where you can sit and admire the warm crystal clear waters. There will be vendors walking up and down the beach trying to sell you stuff. There’s also a guy walking with camels which makes for great photos- just negotiate the amount you want to pay.
As we traveled there during COVID, the hotel provided masks for all guests.
We really enjoyed your stay and would really recommend it.
Are you looking for paradise somewhere in the Indian ocean? Well Diani is the right place to be!
So after five days of safari in Tsavo area, we wanted to relax in an hotel complex all included.
It was a girls trip of four, so we booked two double rooms in Leopard Beach Resort and Spa. Rooms were very clean with a lot of space in the resort. Every room has a private balcony. The food was excellent, I mean a lot of choice from breakfast to diner (typical local food, Indian, European…). Every night there is a live music band. The hotel pool and private beach have a perfect exposure. I really recommend this hotel not only for the confort but also for the staff. We had a great experience and a very warm welcome “home” as Africans. One member of the staff took us to visit mombasa city and gave us some tips and a lot of advice.
Diani is great for all the activities that you can do around like Art Market, Great gastronomic restaurants, fast and street food. For just 1usd you can take a tuktuk and move around the city but there are a lot of taxis too. For my ladies i did beautiful braids for less then 10usd yassssss amazing! (beauty shops at 5mn from the hotel with a tuktuk). If you want to do snorkeling and visit Wasini island or the National Marin Park please go via an Agency its more safe. Right next to the hotel there are plenty of agencies that offer daily activities. Do no hesitate to negotiate the price (just like everywhere).
We went there mid September the weather was perfect. Jambo!
Diani is the home for water sports from kite surfing, to kayaking, windsurfing, stand up paddling, snorkeling, scuba diving, sky diving as well as deep sea fishing. This ranges from 25 – 400USD depending for more you can check out: http://dianiwatersports.com
A day trip to Wasini is a must. This is about 100USD as a foreigner and 40USD for a Kenya or East African Citizen the good thing is that is negotiable. This includes transport to and from your hotel, snorkeling, lunch by the beach and a village tour of Wasini. If you are lucky enough you get to see dolphins on the way there. Diani Beach is known for its coastal local food!
Every meal we had from Diani’s Backpackers hostel to the local restaurant Swahili Pot was amazing.
I had their masala fish with coconut rice and let me tell u, there was only bones and eyes left on that fish y’all!
It was too bomb!
I had the veggie burger and masala fries at Diani Backpackers and that was amazing and so filling!
Everyone told me it would be hard to be peacatarian in Kenya but u found that to be false.
They have plenty of foods like chapati, cabbage, rice and beans, ugali, and much more that you can make your own meal with.
You will not be disappointed!
6 of my siblings and went to Diani. We took a train from Niarobi to Mombasa which costs ksh 1000 (8,5€). We then took a 7 seater taxi to our Villa in Diani which cost us Ksh4500 after bargaining with the taxi driver who at 1st requested Ksh6000 (55€). PS: its also possible to take the bus then ferry then motorbike but with lagguage it’s not so convinient and may take around 2hrs to get to Diani. We booked a Villa at the Bahari dhow beach villashttp://www.baharidhow.com/ which was beautiful and by the beach so we did not need to hustle to get beach seats. The villa cost us as a group for 2 nights with breakfast Ksh36000 (320€). We partly had lunch and dinner at the Villa resturant and sea food at the beach which was around Ksh4000 (37€) for the group. The beach was beautiful with white sand and really clean. If you walk up north along the coastline it even gets better. People always pay beach volley ball, football, camel rides ( ksh300), water sports ( Ksh1200-Ksh3000) depending on the type of sport … There are some historical sights like an old mosque built by the sultans. Fort Jesus is also beautiful but it is in Mombasa. As a black person Diani is amazing, relaxed..we get treated well.. just watch out fot the beach boys at the coast who can be annoyong at times. There is security and staff who are always ready to help. We spend the evening at the beach and the nights at the villa swimming pool. Nightlife.. be sure to go to 40 thieves, they have good food and good music
