My family and I took a day trip to Folly beach while visiting Charleston, SC. Folly beach is a nice beach if you are in the area and want to have a beach day. It was nicer than Sullivan’s island. It had more of a “boardwalk” type of vibe down the main strip next to the beach. Parking was no problem we parked at the Folly beach pier- their are public changing rooms and restrooms. If you want to go fishing they also have rods for rent. Parking was $15 and there were other parking lots down the street. There are several restuarants nearby an arcade, over the water bar on the pier, just to name a few. This is nice small beach town but it was bustling and very busy. Best pineapple ice cream (vegan) and I don’t like ice cream lol pineapplehutsoftserve.com

Traveling While Black
Well, I’m a local, I went to this place near Folly Beach, called Mosquito Beach, This was the Beach for Black People during the time of Segregation. One of the locals a young man by the name of Chance, was sharing the History of the area with us. There was no water on the beach in the Mosquito Beach side, only 2 buildings left standing, they were a restaurant / club for Reggae Music on Tuesdays afternoon. We were there Tuesday around noon. I could see possibly why not much development had not occurred, that reason being, there was no Church in this Important historical community.
