Condola ride up to Anakeesta, has great views of Smokey Mountains, but beware its an open lift seat for 4, or a closed seat up, or you can still take the shuttle bus. I enjoyed the views, but ended up taking the shuttle back down.

I was looking forward to our planned girls’ trip to the cabins. We were great in our little bubble but when we ventured out, we didn’t get the vibe that we were very welcomed. Nothing “in your face” but the stares were off-putting.

It was not a welcoming experience. Every store we went in we were stared at as if we didn’t belong there.

If you are a shade off white, people stare at you. Every breakfast place every moonshine place people don’t expect you to be there. It’s a strange feeling, you get very strange looks. Dolly Parton park was the only reason but it’s just a strange 2 cities.

So we went out for Valentine’s Day weekend. The vibes were dope. We went out to dinner at Chesapeake seafood bar first night was excellent food and vibes were right. Then the next night we walked the strip in gatlinburg. I never been to place that mixes the youth and adult crowds for Saturday night vibes. As a person of color it was a good feeling seeing some people that look like us. The last day we stayed in and cooked and vibed in our AIRbnb. My overall experience was good like I said people of color were far and few between. The only time we experienced some for of prejudice was at Waffle House on the way to pigeon forge. But overall great food and the people were nice.

If you’re ever in Gatlinburg TN, you have to try Ober Mountain Park. There were things to do for kids of all ages as well as fun adult rides and activities. My family and I had a ball

Pigeon Forge is where all the fun is. From helicopter rides. Gaming complexes, I think a distillery is still there, skydiving and, of course, Dollywood. Dollywood, by far, is very welcoming and fun. You have shows, rides, foods and sometimes you can see Dolly herself. Just remember to have someone hold your phone if you go on the water ride. The weather isn’t too hot in the summer, so it’s really comfy. You also have a outlet stores for shopping, skip Margaritaville, it’s low tier food with weak drinks. The hotels are really good too, very clean. I also recommend the helicopter tour

Traveling While Black
Though this is gorgeous place to travel, just keep in mind a few things: Gatlinburg is very beautiful but still has some elements of racial tension so it’s recommended to travel in groups at night. Do not make a wrong turn to the wrong cabin at night since some people live in them that may not be so kind.
Pigeon Forge has a lot more to do from shopping to tours and a 5D gaming complex which I recommend. There isn’t much of a night life outside of what you do in the cabins or hotel. Be mindful that there are black bears. So don’t leave food out. All in all, it’s pretty chill, just be mindful where you are and don’t take any detours through any towns as it’s definitely surrounded by a lot of Sundown towns and Sundown counties
