Luxembourg is so close to Germany, it only needed to be a day trip. We went to experience the Christmas market there, which so was cute! There were Christmas lights, one of a kind ornaments for sale, food, chocolate, mulled wine, and much more! There was a stage with people performing songs, everyone standing around drinking warm wine, and even shopping outlets. I would definitely go back to Luxembourg simply for the warm and inviting atmosphere… especially during Christmas time!
the food in luxembourg is very diverse for being a country with a lot of diversity you can find food from brazil, mexico, japan, among others.
Luxembourg is a small city where you can find a supermarket to buy food if you need it. neither so expensive nor so cheap compared to other European cities.
Because I had completed most of the typical western European countries, it is now my goal to visit the smaller maybe overlooked regions in Europe. And so I planned a trip to Luxembourg for a weekend.
This country is not affordable at all. We stayed really close to the airport which was fine because the bus (16 I believe ran directly into the city, which was great. I think by the time you go, transportation will be free in Luxembourg, but it was only 4 Euros for the entire day). We stayed at Ibis Budget Luxembourg Airport in the family room, which was fine. Smaller than desired, but compared to the $300-400 per night hotels in the city, we paid a total of $240 I believe for the 3 of us in the Ibis. which was fine as we left early and returned late.
The first day we did a day trip to Trier Germany (worth exploring) quick 50 min trip via Flixbus (I believe a train also heads that way as well). They are like the land of Riesling!! My favorite, so definitely try to get some wine tasting. It was cool to explore, Karl Marx is from there, there are a few other things to do, but overall, 1 day is enough.
The next day we did a Free Walking Tour in Luxembourg, it is the only free walking tour in the country as we could find. It gave a good history of the city, understanding the influences of the surrounding countries, and the wall built for protection was pretty cool.
Overall, not super impressed by Luxembourg, but got to learn more about a place very few even know exist and I thought that in itself made it worth it to go.

I would recommend doing a day trip to Luxembourg, just for the history. The people are super nice. But the prices aren’t so nice lol.
Luxembourg was absolutely gorgeous (including the actual people!!!) but it’s wicked expensive! It’s not as crazy as Switzerland but things are pretty expensive so be sure to budget accordingly!
