My wife and I spent our honeymoon in New Zealand and we loved every moment of our trip. One of the highlights of our trip was when we visited Hobbiton Movie Set Tours. This place was magical. The tour operators were extremely friendly and knowledge about the Lord of the Rings and they really seemed to enjoy their job. At the conclusion of the tour we got a chance to try Lord of The Rings inspired beer and biscuits (i.e. cookies). This tour was well worth the price of admission. If you find yourself in New Zealand, you should definitely add this to your places to see.

If you are a big fan of The Lord of the Rings movies or The Hobbit movies, you must make your way to Matamata in New Zealand. The Hobbiton movie set is located in Matamata. After Hobbiton was used for both sets of movies, it was left intact for fans to visit. There are tours that take you through The Shire. The tour guide discusses how the set was made and scenes from the movies. The tour ends with a drink in the Green Lantern. Matamata is approximately 2 hours away from Auckland New Zealand. There are many tours that leave from Auckland to Matamata or you can rent a car and drive up there yourself.
