Stayed in barrio antiguo which was very nice and colorful. Highly recommend if you want to stay in a spot that close to things but less commercial. If you want fancy and commercial, san pedro is a good option. My experience in monterrey was very positive! Everyone was kind and friendly and no issues. Monterrey is not really a city for tourists and there arent many tourist hubs like in other parts of mexico, so make sure to know some spanish or have your translator ready.
